Eastern Provinces

Mpumalanga
(Previously called the Eastern Transvaal) for the Kruger National Park and the private game reserves in the Sabie Sands and elsewhere.
Mountain and bushveld are the twin and compelling features of the regions far to the east of Johannesburg and the great highveld plateau. The Kruger National Park is a haven for more varieties of wildlife than any other game sanctuary in Africa. For the birdwatcher Kruger has enormous appeal with 493 species recorded. It's a fascinating region too for the botanist. The game complement naturally includes the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Kruger takes up a large portion of the Eastern Transvaal's (Mpumalanga) lowveld region but by no means all of it. Sprawled along the Park's western boundaries are Timbavati, Klaserie, Manyeleti, Sabi-Sand and Mala Mala Game Reserves. Each of these reserves comprises a number of private game properties, whose owners have combined resources to create wonderful parks. Each is different, with its own distinctive personality, but all are professionally run, supremely comfortable, and provide the holiday of a lifetime. The advantage of the private reserves is that you get away from the crowds of private vehicles and can go off road and make night drives in search of game. Most of the camps and camp sites in Kruger are fairly simple but well run.
Some of the better known private reserves are:
→ Mala Mala (Main Camp, Kirkman's Kamp and Harry's Camp)
→ Singita (Boulders and Ebony Lodges)
→ Londolozi (Main Camp, Bush Camp and Tree Camp)
→ Sabi Sabi (Bush Lodge, River Lodge, Mandleve Treehouse Suite, Selati Lodge and Nkombe Tented Camp)
    → King's Camp
    → Djuma Camp

KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal for Durban and its beaches, fantastic sailing and surfing, the Zulu culture and battlefields, and the game parks and beaches of Northern Natal.

KwaZulu-Natal is a place where the sun shines all year round and where huge sugar and banana plantations and bright hibiscus flourish. It is the home of the Zulu and their legendary kings and their rich traditional culture is reflected in their craftsmanship, song, dance and rituals. Maputaland is one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Africa where people and animals co-exist in harmony. The fresh water Kosi Lakes extend along the coastline separated from the sea by high sand dunes. Lake Sibayi is the largest fresh water lake in South Africa and the St. Lucia Estuary is an important wetland. For those interested there are historic and cultural tours to the Zulu battlefields, forts and museums. For wildlife the Ndumo Reserve on the Mozambique border has both black and white rhino and is reputed to be the finest bird watching area in South Africa. Snow-capped in winter, the Drakensberg is the country's grandest mountain range, offering magnificent scenery, excellent walking, horse riding and climbing and a fly fisherman's delight with huge rainbow trout. Durban is one of the busiest harbors in South Africa and a major holiday resort with pristine beaches, great shopping and delicious sea food and Indian cuisine.

Ndumo Wilderness Camp
Ndumo Wilderness Camp is situated in the Ndumo Game Reserve, in Northern Natal (KwaZulu) just south of the Mozambique border. The camp is set on the edge of the Banzi Pan under a canopy of giant fig trees. It has 8 luxurious tented rooms with en suite bathrooms and a separate bar/dining area. The entire camp is raised on a wooden deck with walkways linking the tents and other areas. Game drives are in 4x4 vehicles and on foot.

Rocktail Bay Lodge
Rocktail Bay Lodge is situated yards from the Indian Ocean in the coastal forest and offers an exclusive private beach experience. Here you can enjoy evening strolls along a deserted beach which one travel magazine has called one of the 10 best beaches in the world. There is excellent fishing, bird walks in search of elusive forest birds, scenic drives in 4x4 vehicles or just a day sunning on the beach or snorkeling in the tidal pools. In summer (December-February) nocturnal expeditions can be made to see the sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Accommodation is in 10 wood and thatch tree house chalets with private bath and shower facilities.

Phinda Forest and Mountain Lodges
Phinda Forest and Mountain Lodges are in the Phinda Private Game Reserve near Lake St. Lucia. Elegant luxury is the theme here. Game drives and a river excursions are included and scuba diving is an optional extra. The open grasslands of the reserve abound with wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, rhino and elephant. You will also find cheetah, lion and many other species as well as a wonderful selection of birds in the 7 different ecosystems. You will enjoy gourmet food and a chance to choose from a cellar of over 12,000 bottles of South Africa's finest award winning wines.

Gauteng
Gauteng for Johannesburg as an entry port. Most tourists will stay in the Sandton and Rosebank areas for the shopping, restaurants and greater security rather than downtown Johannesburg. Tours of interest include Pretoria (the capitol), Soweto, the Gold Reef City amusement & shopping complex and the museums of Johannesburg. There is a range of excellent hotels in the area and we will be pleased to make recommendations.
