Jack's Camp

Like a dream from the Arabian Nights the tents of Jack's Camp rise from
the desolate floor of the vast Makgadikgadi salt pan. Here in one of
the world's harshest environments you will enjoy the luxury of a 1940's
safari camp in one of 10 green tents with Persian rugs on the floor and
cool cotton sheets on the bed. You will
explore the
seemingly endless pan on quad bikes during the dry season
and walk

Bushmen and erudite
young graduate students as guides. A family of meerkats may
keep you company, and
you are likely to see the rare and fascinating brown hyena who lives
only in the Kalahari. During the wet season, February through
April, the Makgadikgadi bursts into bloom, flamingos and other
migratory birds fill the air, and the sea of migrating plains animals
moves through the area.
San Camp

This camp, named for the San Bushmen, is in the heart of the Kalahari
on the edge of the Makgadikgadi salt pan. White tents, white salt,
golden grasslands and intensely blue sky are the colors of this
experience. San is smaller than Jack's Camp with only 6 tents and also
more rustic.

Bathrooms are en suite but
feature bucket showers and
'bush' toilets. Guest rooms and the simple mess tent looking out over
the pan are lighted after dark with paraffin lamps. Game drives, quad
biking during the dry season into the vast empty spaces of the
pan and
walks with San Bushman guides give the visitor some
comprehension of
this immense, wild place and its unique wildlife.
