South Eastern Kenya
The South East part of Kenya is less visited than some of the other regions but it has a lot to offer. The area encompasses Amboseli and Tsavo and Chyulu Hills National Parks.
Amboseli
Although Amboseli is one of the smaller national parks it is famous for its plethora of elephants and for Cynthia Moss who immortalized them in her books.
Tortilis Camp
Is an intimate luxury tented camp set high on a hilltop offering magnificent views of snow-topped Kilimanjaro.
Each spacious tent has a private shaded verandah with an expansive view and there is a lovely pool for the hot afternoons.
Activities feature game drives in open vehicles and nature walks with friendly Masai guides are a special feature.

Tsavo National Parks
Tsavo is actually two parks: Tsavo East and Tsavo West which together encompass an area larger than Belgium or Wales.
It is an arid and semi arid expanse of savanna and woodlands. Tsavo is famous for its huge elephant population and wonderful views of Kilimanjaro.
Tsavo West - Finch Hatton's Camp
Is lovely camp on the edge of the park. The 35 elegant tents are set along a river with wallowing hippos and wonderful birdlike.
Morning and evening game drives are offered but many people choose to relax by the pool and enjoy spectacular dining and wonderful service.

Tsavo East - Galdessa Camp
Is a special place off the beaten path. This is a tented eco-tourism camp with 18 bandas (tented bungalows) on the Galana River.
Activities include game drives, walks and river trips. This camp is located in the middle of the Rhino Release Project making rhino sightings very common.

Tsavo East - Galla Camp
In the Taita/Rukinga Wildlife Conservancy bordering Tsavo East is a comfortable tented camp with six en-suite tents set high on a rock kopje overlooking the Tsavo wilderness. Activities focus on walking in wild territory and game drives. For the more adventurous traveler, fly-camping in the conservancy is a wonderful way to really get close to the wilderness.

Tsavo East - The Taita Educational Center
Is a unique facility offering educational programs for student and adult groups.
Accommodation is in simple dormitories, food is delicious and wholesome and the experience is life-changing!
Participants are actively involved in monitoring local game populations, discussions of the area eco-system and a community service project.

Chyulu Hills
This small national park borders Tsavo East. There are two wonderful accommodation options:
Ol Donyo Wuas
Is an exclusive lodge on private land owned by Richard Bonham, one of the best known guides in Kenya today.
The six luxurious thatched cottages all have ensuite bathrooms, fireplaces, and verandahs with panoramic views of the plains and Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Activities include game drives, walks with the local Masai herdsmen and horseback riding.

Campi ya Kanzi
Is a lovely camp overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro and sweeping Tsavo plains.
Surrounded to the rear by the soft but numerous Chyulu Hills this is a spectacular location.
The lodge is owned by an Italian couple who have in part grown up in the region and have instilled a fabulously al-fresco feel at the lodge.
