Selous & Ruaha

Selous Game Reserve is a vast untainted wilderness which has miraculously escaped human encroachment. Most of Selous remains a trackless wilderness. The Selous may not have so much game as Serengeti it does offer a more natural interaction with wildlife. Selous is wonderful because it offers walking safaris, done with armed warden and without the noise of a vehicle and boat safaris, affording the opportunity to get closer to the animals.

Ruaha National Park is a pristine wildlife area along the Great Ruaha River which has spectacular gorges. During the dry season, visit Ruaha to see abundant game. This park is remote and unspoiled with very few visitors which offers the opportunity to view game in a true wilderness setting.

Sands River Lodge

This is the most exclusive lodge in the Selous. It is comprised of 8 secluded cottages all with en-suite bathrooms and stunning views over the Rufiji River. Sands River Lodge prides itself on the high standards of service and cuisine. Activities include combination of walking, boating and fly-camping. Game drives are in specially adapted open vehicles.

Ruaha River Camp

Constructed on and around a rocky kopje overlooking the river, is a mellow place to stay consisting of a number of beautiful riverside bandas built of stone and thatch. In the dry season, the river attracts great quantities of game including lion, leopard, hunting dog and numerous other species.
