The Wine Country
Safari offers the best game viewing in Southern Africa combined
with the charm and sophistication of Cape Town and the Cape Wine
Country. We have designed two suggested itineraries to encompass
quite different safari styles:
These suggested itineraries should be taken as such; we can custom
design your journey, adding or subtracting nights, changing restaurants
or vineyards or adding other areas or experiences including Rovos
Rail or The Blue Train.
Itinerary 1: Botswana, Victoria
Falls and Wine Country takes the traveler to some of the
most remote areas of northern Botswana to see spectacular wildlife
in a pristine environment. It also includes a visit to the world-famous
Victoria Falls. Botswana's vast open spaces, sparse population and
unique ecosystems make for some of the best game viewing in the
world. Accommodation is in luxury tented camps that are intimate
and comfortable without being opulent. Emphasis is on friendly service,
good food and top quality guiding. The tents are large and airy
with wonderful views, full en suite bathrooms, hotel amenities such
as soaps and lotions and small decorative touches that make them
feel welcoming and homey.
Itinerary 2: South African Game Reserves
and Wine Country offers a South African safari to two of
that country's renowned private reserves: Singita and Phinda. These
reserves take every hint of "roughing it" out of the safari experience.
Both feature elegant lodges with all the features discerning travelers
have come to expect from fine hotels around the world. Full time
electricity, air conditioning, fine wine cellars, fire places, and
five star service are only a few of the special features of these.
Game viewing is wonderful with stable populations of animals (including
all of the "Big Five") to be found in a relatively small area.
See our Accommodation page and
the detailed descriptions of Botswana
and South Africa for more information.
After your safari in either area, the two itineraries are the same
with 2 nights in Cape Town, 2 nights in Franschhoek and 1 night
at a working winery. While in the Cape region, you will have the
opportunity to tour and taste at some of South Africa's finest vineyards
and will dine at world class restaurants. (See our restaurant descriptions.)
