This 8 day itinerary by road though local villages allows you to observe and experience the life of the people of Uganda as well as trekking chimps and gorillas.

This itinerary can be reversed to start in Bwindi and additional gorilla treks may be added.
Days 1-2: Kibale Forest Reserve
Depart Entebbe by road with your private guide and a picnic lunch for the scenic drive to Kibale Forest Reserve. Stop along the way to take in the landscape, peoples and scenery. Arrive at your lodge and absorb the stunning views as you survey the Rwenzori Mountains.
After an early breakfast depart for Kanyanchu Tourist center for a briefing on trekking etiquette. At 8.00 am begin the trek on foot for the sought after chimps but also be alert for red tailed monkey and black & white colobus.
In the afternoon enjoy a swamp walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Located just outside the park, it is home to 138 bird species which may be seen during guided walks along the boardwalk trail and viewing platforms.

Day 3-4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for lunch. Have a swim in the lodge pool and relax before your late afternoon game drive. The Mweya peninsula offers excellent game drives with magnificent views across the water to the Rwenzori Mountains. Mweya is one of the best places to look for leopard, which live in the dense, scrubby brush.
Early morning departure for a game drive in the Kasenyi plain region of Queen Elizabeth Park. Game viewing will vary by the season but Uganda kobs and lions are certain. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast, and in the afternoon a cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will see hippos, crocodiles, and a number of water bird species.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Park-Ishasha area
After breakfast you will game drive through the national park to reach the southern Ishasha sector – famed for its tree-climbing lions. It is the best area in the park for wildlife photography and the area also offers good populations of elephant, buffalo and hippo. This is the only camp in the area and a nice stopover spot on the way to Bwindi.

Days 6-7: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve
After breakfast drive south through the rolling hills of Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest arriving in the afternoon. Relax at your camp in the rainforest in preparation for your trek tomorrow.
At last, gorilla trekking day! After breakfast head to the park headquarters to meet your local guide for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette before being transferred to the trailhead for your trek. Hike in the forest with a packed lunch in search of the endangered mountain gorilla. Once located, you can spend an hour with them watching them groom, eat and play. You will then trek out of the forest and return your lodge.

Today your driver will transfer you to the Kihihi airstrip for your flight to Entebbe or depart after breakfast for the 9 hour trip by road.
